You may know that you want custom wedding invitations, but what are you supposed to write on it? There are certain elements that the wedding invitations should always have. This wording is important because it gives your guests all the information they need, not to mention that it is just tradition to write things in this particular way.
Good wedding invitations always begin with the host line: who are the proud parents or other family members requesting your presence at the bride and groom’s big day? The line following the host is the request of your attendance. It will then lead into the bride and groom lines which state their first and middle names. This is to let the guests know to whom they are responding and the full names of those getting married. You must also include the location of the ceremony (address and name of the venue) and the time.
The RSVP is usually left for a separate card so that you can keep the information with you and just send the reply. Sometimes you will even want to order a separate card telling guests where the reception is afterwards. The wording on this can be far less formal– just the name of the venue and the time will do, as would a map or directions on the reverse side.
The etiquette is simple to follow but not 100% required. There are countless ways to reflect the information, so long as it makes sense and feels right. You shouldn’t stress over whether the wording is extremely formal or semi-formal, so long as it does not confuse people.
